Vault 13 came equipped with a supercomputer artificial intelligence that acts as the main computer control system. Requiring 3.98 gigawatts of electricity each day, the vault is primarily powered using geothermal energy with a General Atomics nuclear power plant as the secondary backup power source.
The starting budget for the project was set at $400 billion, but escalated to $645 billion by the end of construction. Although the vault was designed to house 500 residents in 100 living quarters, it was built to have a maximum capacity of up to 1,000. BackgroundĬonstruction of Vault 13 began in August 2063, and was completed in March 2069, making it the last vault to be completed on the West Coast. Vault 13 is one of the series of large scale fallout out shelters built by Vault-Tec before the Great War.
